What does ‘being free’ really mean?
Does the acquisition of more and more money mean real freedom?
Can you buy your way out of moral responsibility?
The all-pervasive advertising produces countless artificial needs and deceives consumers into believing that consumption leads to self-fulfilment and increased self-esteem. The maxim applies
‘I consume, therefore I am – someone!’
However, unbridled consumption ultimately leads to self-abandonment in the prison of greed and to enslavement in today’s money machine.
Free will is held hostage to compulsive consumption, in which moral responsibility is locked out.
